An independent committee has issued a report on the U.S. commitment to global health. Formed by the Institute of Medicine, the committee also detailed a vision for future U.S. activities and investments in this area.

Several key areas of U.S. government engagement in global health were considered. These included resources provided to expand public health infrastructure, as well as research efforts focused on health problems endemic to poor countries. The relationship between the United States and the WHO was also examined.

The committee received support from several U.S. government agencies and private foundations.
