GHWA Joins Health Workers Campaign Launch

The Global Health Workforce Alliance recently joined British NGO Merlin in the "Hands Up for Health Workers" campaign for investment in health staff to become a global priority.

With a shortage of four million doctors, nurses and midwives around the world, the campaign calls for funding to train required additional staff and refresher training for current workers. Fifty-seven countries dealing with critical health worker shortages are highlighted, 36 of which are African. The campaign also asks for a regular living wage for health workers and incentives for workers in remote or hostile environments.
