Alma Ata Symposium on the Future of Primary Health Care


 

The conference will be held September 11-12, 2008 in London to recognize the historical importance of the Alma-Ata declaration, and of the abiding interest in PHC from a range of stakeholders. A range of leading speakers will marshal the available evidence to address both the promise and the pitfalls of primary health care (PHC) from a range of perspectives and discuss the continuing relevance of such concepts to improvement of world health. HRH topics include:

  • Evaluating the lessons learned: The value of community participation and community health workers for health improvements;
  • Integrated delivery of interventions for neonatal, maternal and child health in PHC; and
  • Role of community participation in PHC.
