Resource Spotlight: Adding It Up 2014: The Costs and Benefits of Investing in Sexual and Reproductive Health
“Women need sexual and reproductive health services from adolescence through the end of their reproductive years, whether or not they have a birth, and those who give birth need essential care to protect their health and ensure their newborns survive,” write the authors of the 2014 report titled “Adding it Up: The Costs and Benefits of Investing in Sexual and Reproductive Health 2014.”
The report, published by UNFPA and Guttmacher Institute, argues that declines of maternal and infant deaths in many developing countries are a welcome sign. However, many disparities between wealthy and poor countries.
The 2014 edition of Adding It Up provides new estimates of costs and benefits of sexual and reproductive health interventions in contraceptive services; maternal, newborn and other pregnancy-related care; selected services related to HIV prevention, along with treating women for other common STIs.
