Investing in Today, Safeguarding Tomorrow: Rethinking Recruitment and Retention Course
Keele University's Centre for Health Planning and Management invites participants for the Summer School 2008 program, "Investing in Today, Safeguarding Tomorrow: Rethinking Recruitment and Retention." This course has been developed to support the effective recruitment and retention of health workers with the aim of promoting good practices and reviewing current systems and strategies in this area.
The course will take place from August 31-September 4, 2008 at Keele University in Staffordshire, UK.
The following core themes will be explored through a series of presentations, discussions and case studies:
- rethinking recruitment and retention;
- building and strengthening networks and partnerships for effective recruitment and retention;
- developing positive practice environments to support recruitment, retention, productivity and performance;
- investing in education for career management and lifelong learning;
- using re-profiling, skill mix, and forecasting to influence recruitment and retention strategy and process;
- the international dimension to recruitment; and
- professional development as a mechanism for motivating and retaining existing staff.
