Human Resources in Health (HRH) eToolkit for Southern Africa

[GLOBAL] The Human Resources in Health (HRH) eToolkit was recently launched through K4Health's Southern Africa HIV/AIDS Regional Exchange (SHARE). The eToolkit is meant to serve as a resource for those dealing with aspects of the HRH crisis in Southern Africa, including individuals and organizations who wish to familiarize themselves with the various components of HRH. The eToolkit was developed by Dr John Fieno (USAID/Southern Africa) and reviewed by a group of HRH experts. Resources in this collection include WHO guidelines and protocols, documents from Southern African countries on strategic planning, health worker recruitment and retention, as well as pre-service and in-service training, country experiences with performance-based financing, and various HRH data sources.

Topics include:

  • fundamentals of HRH
  • planning and national strategic plans
  • financing (including performance-based)
  • HRH training (pre-service and in-service)
  • recruitment and retention
  • HRIS, eHealth and mHealth
  • M&E and data sources
  • country experiences
  • selected special topics

Users can also network and communicate with others interested in HRH in Southern Africa through the HRH group on SHARE.
