Distance learning for health (DL4H) is gaining popularity as a means of providing education and training to health professionals in low and middle income countries. This growth in popularity stems from the potential advantages conferred by distance learning, including: greater and easier access, low cost, scope for capacity strengthening and the potential for in-service training that can indirectly contribute to better retention of the workforce.
